Jolly Summer

We are having  a gorgeous weather today  and it is just the perfect weather to be outdoors enjoying the sun. I stopped by at McDonald's to get the mango and pineapple smoothie and hit the stores for some window shopping while trying to enjoy my mummy time.  The summer is going great so far and I am enjoying each day as it comes. It is starting to get a little chilly in the evenings and early hours of the morning though and we can not deny the fact that the cold season is gradually creeping up on us.

I'm almost done with my shopping for the fall and winter season and I know I'm ready to weather any storm...:) I got some cute scarves and cardigans  from Loft, booties and sweater dresses from Victoriassecret and  tights from Express. Now I have a couple of get together to attend this weekend and I am still thinking of what to wear. Funny how a lady can have a closet full of clothes and still be at a limbo. I hope you guys are enjoying the jolly summer. Thanks so much for reading and stay blessed.

"Shoes in"- Sneak Peak

+-

The shoes are here!..:) We ladies do love our shoes and can never have enough. My packages just arrived and I think I'm done with my shoe shopping for the year; (I hope?) Save for one last purchase I might make. I'm thinking of getting a pair of leopard prints flat for the fall and I'm currently searching for an affordable pair that would not break the bank. Okay, enough rambling about my future purchase...:)

We all know that shoes make a huge statement and they transform an outfit and take it up a notch. In my opinion, they do not have to be expensive but they do have to be super comfortable. I usually do not go for trends but would get something that is in season if it is super pretty or catches my fancy; clothes and shoes alike. Also, I do get thrifty by buying only items that I really need and getting them at discount prices except for occasional splurges. So, I made a note to myself last fall that I would need a couple of new sandals this summer and a couple of booties for the fall/winter (since the ones I own presently have weathered some storm) and some rain boots for the kids and sandals also for them to play in...an endless list I know! Well, hubby took care of the kids and I took care of me!..:)

I did some stalking on Victoria's secret('s) website; my favorite place to shop and when some of my favorite pairs went on sale, I made a fast move. This post is just a sneak peak at my shoe haul and I will do the reveal later. ha! ha!! (whisper: lots of animal prints..) To see my post on the ongoing sales of my favorite pair(s) check here.

Sparkles in the Shadows

It's been such a busy and fun weekend. I had a lot of chores on my to-do list and thankfully I got to do most of them. I'm currently just taking a break and preparing to take a much needed nap. I was too lazy to prepare the usual Sunday brunch so I took the phone and called the pizza place and ordered a family feast deal while the rest of the family were downstairs. I wanted to give everyone a surprise and you can imagine the surprise and excitement when the door bell rang and the pizza guy hauled in boxes of pizza. I had to let my son in on the secret though and he quickly rushed downstairs to yell surprise!! I bet hubby would have turned the pizza guy away thinking it was a wrong address. We usually do not do deliveries all the time; trying to teach the kids to eat healthy...:)

This sparkly side-ruched long sleeve top over an A-line gold or mustard color skirt is the outfit of the day. It is actually an old outfit forgotten in the closet that just resurfaced again. I liked the top so much at the time of purchase years ago that I got it in a cream color also. The skirt was custom made by me. I saw the lovely gold/mustard color fabric on one of my visit to the fabric store, purchased it and my seamstress made the skirt. I wish I could sew...(( The ruching on the top made my bump less obvious and it's not that I am trying to hide it any way...:)  The sparkly top and gold skirt totally made my day.

Thinking of what to wear

Hi Everyone, I hope you are enjoying your weekend so far. Summer is gradually coming to an end and I'm trying to enjoy every single day  of summer that is left before fall comes upon us. It is actually starting to get cold in the mornings and evenings over here in MN.

I have two events coming up which I really want to attend. One of the event is a birthday party for one of my friends and the other is a back yard barbecue. I'm trying to narrow my choices on what to wear to both events. I'm thinking of wearing something sparkly to the birthday party which is an all-night party and for the barbecue, I'm still torn between wearing a dress, skirt or shorts. However, I know I need something comfortable and fun though for my growing baby bump.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and see you again soon.

Express Find

Wow!! It's August first!! Unbelievable!!! We are more than halfway through the year and those fabulous holidays are getting closer each day. Is Anyone thinking about thanksgiving yet or maybe Christmas?..:) I am looking forward to Labor day holiday weekend and I'm thinking of taking a trip to visit family outside of town. I am so grateful to God for everything so far and I never fail to count my blessings all the time. It is the right attitude to have in life.

My outfit of the day is a white knit long sleeve top with frills which I got from Express worn over a geometric print skirt from T.J Maxx. I really like the feminine frills on this top and though I do not shop at Express a lot but I do get some amazing items whenever I'm there.

So, seriously, "Are you counting your blessings each day?"...:)

Color Me Teal and Yellow

I have definitely infused a lot of color into my closet and this light teal color skirt I purchased from Loft last fall  is just one of my colorful items. My initial pairing of the skirt was  with a black top or  white blouse but I decided to go all out by pairing it with a yellow top this time around; definitely a large dose of color! The neutral accessories sort of turned things down a bit though  however, it's summer and color is just appreciated at this time of the year. So, color me teal and yellow!!...:)

Black and White - Two

Black and white is always so simple and easy to put together considering that they can be put together in hundreds of ways. I featured some of my black and white looks on the blog last year but decided to do a count down of the ones I'm doing this year. So, this is black and white - two. For black and white - one, check here.

I started my blog to document my style makeover and I think it is going well gradually. I used to be in a lot of dark and greys and did not feel like I looked my best. Now, I'm starting to infuse some color into my closet but it does not hurt to do a black and white look or greys once in a while. Style is somewhat subjective most times and some people are comfortable in black the whole year round. I had a course mate in one of my classes when I was in college who wore black outfits to class the entire semester and I used to be amazed at this. I thought of having a conversation with her about her style but was too busy to do so. You see, fashion can be a conversation starter and we can preach any message with the way we dress. I guess everyone should be happy in their comfort zone but for me, I think color is fun. There is a reason God created us black, white and brown. There is a reason roses are red and white and pink; There is a reason trees are short and tall. Diversity is fun and diversity is beautiful. Above all, God made all things beautiful.

Color and Style Inspiration Board 2

One of my favorite stores to shop is Victoria's secret and I do check their website every now and then to see what is trending or what is on sale. I really love all the looks below because they are so put together. Also, the featured sandals and boots  are on sale and they are on my wish list. I recently purchased the leopard print sandals for $29.99 and it was a good discount because the original price was $98. Things go very fast on the website though and it is better to get an item you really love at the original price or you would only get limited sizes when things go on sale.

It's always great to buy smart and have good bargains. This is one of the qualities of a virtuous woman illustrated in Proverbs 31: 10-31 of the Bible. Verses  21, 22 and 30 are very remarkable.

"She (A Virtuous Woman) is not afraid of snow for her household, for all her household are clothed in scarlet. She makes herself coverings; her clothing is fine linen and purple...Charm is deceitful, and Beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised."

Leopard Print Sandals..

Top: Deb
Skirt: Loft
Sandals: Colin Stuart via Victoria's Secret

I wore this coral color top over a green velvet A-line skirt today to lounge in the house when I got home from work. Then I slipped on this leopard print sandals I recently purchased from Victoria secret when it was time to step out the door for some chores. I'm thinking of heading to the farmers market nearby to purchase some fruits and vegetables. Water melons are on the top of my list because nothing beats the summer heat like a good slice of cold water melon. Besides, my outfit does give a shout out to the water melon colors...:)

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and leaving all your beautiful comments. We are more than halfway gone in the year but as each day goes by, we should never forget to be thankful to God for keeping us alive. Thanks once again and see you soon on your blog.

Kisses!!
