Embellished Sweater and a quilted Purse

2015 is almost year and it's almost unbelievable! 2014 has been an amazing year and I pray and hope that the new year would bring more amazing things to us all. It's still a festive week with the New year celebrations coming up. An embellished sweater like this one I got from Loft at the beginning of the fall is very work appropriate at this time of the year; combine it with a pair of corduroy skinnies and you can go anywhere and face any situation..:-).

Let's ring in the new year with a heart of faith and love; trusting in God above all things. He's the creator and giver of life and we owe our existence to him. There are so many that have passed and couldn't live to see this day or the new year and there are so many grieving at this time but we have been so blessed to be alive and blogging and doing all the things that we love.

My heart goes out to all those who are grieving or those that are in sad situations at this time and I pray that God almighty comfort them all. Life is not easy sometimes but what can we do? 'only have faith and move on.

I didn't mean to be all philosophical with this blog post but it is the end of the year and definitely the right time for some soul searching and reflection. I'm so blessed to have my blog because it has given me the opportunity to grow in every area of my life; it has made me more organized in all I do and it has opened the way for me to know a lot of awesome people and bloggers. Happy new year to you all and I'll be back soon with another outfit post and End of the year Review.

Blue, white, red and a twist.

Hi Friends; I'm trying to get all my saved archives unto the blog hence the multiple postings you might have noticed. I am also doing some housekeeping because I do not want to carry over any post from this year into the next year. This outfit here is what I call Christmas Casual. I wore it sometime last week after the Christmas holiday.  How else can we reflect Christmas in our outfits than to add a touch of red? My red coat was in significant rotation this season. The twist in the outfit is my black and white calf print pumps and maybe the necklace?

                                                                            Top: Victorias Secret
                                                                                              Clutch: merona: Target (old)
                                                                            Denim: Target
                                                                            Coat: Chadwicks (old)
                                                                            Shoes: VS
                                                                            Necklace: Walmart

I'm wishing everyone all the best in the new year. It's certainly time to do housekeeping because it's not okay to carry trash or garbage into the new year. I do not believe in New year resolutions though. All I do is pray to "be the best I can be." I was a better "Me" in 2014 but I pray to be the "best Me" in 2015. "We all should aspire to be the change we want to see in the world." I do not know who said or made this quote but I really like it.

Sushi Outfit

Hi Friends; I'm trying to upload all my saved pictures unto the blog before the year ends; three more days to go!!! Wow!!! I do not want to carry over any of them into the new year...:-). New year, new beginning...LoL!!! I couldn't think of a better title for this post so, I hope you do not mind and can find humor in it.

This outfit is what I wore to have dinner with my friends earlier this month at a Japanese restaurant. My friends were going on vacation for Christmas with their families and we wanted to have dinner together before they left so we picked a Japanese restaurant for our meet-up and it was quite fun.

I wanted to put on an all black outfit then decided to put on this black and white print pant I got from Macy's a while back. For some reason, I couldn't find the earrings I wanted to wear that evening and after making a mess in my closet, I decided to just go without earrings but not before throwing on a statement necklace. I have been stocking up on them after I discovered the Walmart collection recently. These statement necklaces are the best thing to have come out of Walmart...:-). And at $10.00 a piece, they're a real steal. My hair was also all over the place but it was a situation of "big hair-don't care!"..LoL!!!

I had so much fun that night I can tell you. We ate and chatted well into the night and were the last set to leave the restaurant. The food was good too; it was actually my first time sampling Japanese cuisine and I enjoyed it. We took some pictures when we were about to leave and for some reason the lighting was not in our favor but we managed to save some pictures.

My friends are fashionistas; I tell you. They have kids like me but they are some stylish Moms! I liked the sequin dress and thigh high boots that my friend Bunmi wore and  Naya wore a black jumpsuit with a stylish leopard prints belt and a teal jacket; very chic and stylish. I'm going to re-create both looks on the blog. It was nice too for us to take out time from our busy schedule and the kids to just get together and have some ladies' time.

                                                                 Jacket: Wilson's Leather: old

I wish the pictures were better but that is it. I got a few more outfits coming up too. I wish everyone a happy new year in advance.

My Christmas Outfit and a Snood

Hi friends, so this is my official Christmas outfit for the year 2014. I wore a different outfit on Christmas day to celebrate my son's birthday and had to reserve this official outfit for the day after; I did not have a Christmas outfit last year because I was too pregnant to care...:-). So, it was exciting putting an outfit together this year.

This pleated red skirt was custom made by my seamstress and I wore the purple one here. I felt like if I needed to wear pleated skirt in the winter time, it had to be made of thick durable fabric and since I couldn't find such online; I bought some pleated fabrics from the fabric store and had the skirts made. I can wear them to church and any other formal event in sub temperatures.

The sequin top is actually a sequin express dress that hubs got me for my birthday a couple of years ago and the snood was made by me; yeah moi...:-). I have always wanted a faux fur snood and most of the ones I liked were a bit expensive like this one here and here and here so I decided to make one myself and it came out really nice. It was on my Fall list that I blogged about in this post here. I would put up a DIY pictorial of it later; it's really easy to make and it's super comfy and gives a lot of warmth. It's also different from a regular scarf and a great accessory to have for the cold season. I am also wearing my new booties that I got a couple of weeks ago for less than $15.00. So, this is my Christmas outfit; simple and fun.

Sequin top: dress used as blouse
Skirt: custom made
Belt: thrifted
Clutch: T. J. Maxx
Snood: DIY
Necklace: Walmart
Earrings: Gifted
Coat: Chadwicks

Now Christmas is over **sniff, sniff,** I'm going to miss all the harmonious and melodious Christmas carols and the beautiful decor and the lights..

Birthday Photos

Hi Friends, so these are some of the pictures from my son's birthday party. Most of the pictures were taken with cell phones and they are not of the best quality so, I apologize..:-). My home also needs some remodeling and re-decoration which I'm going to get to very soon so pardon me if you think my interior decor is old fashioned...:-).

So, this is the blouse I wore inside my jacket and like I said in my earlier post, I did not want to wear anything Christmassy or sparkly; I just wanted to wear something fun and colorful. I admit a jacket on denim or white on white is not the most fun outfit for a kid's party but hey, it's winter time okay? I needed the jacket for warmth and who says you can't wear white after labor day?...:-)

My outfit is similar to this collage I created on Polyvore (you can see my previous post here.) but I wish my pieces were the same high end designer stuff!

So, the outfit actually started like this; I wore this mint color camisole at first that I purchased from Marshals a long time ago but I did not like the fit and I felt it was more appropriate for a grown up event so I took it off but not before taking some pictures of it.

Then, I switched the blouse with this pleated version that I have also owned for a while. When I put my outfit together the day before, I made sure I had both blouses ready just in case one did not work out or incase there was a wardrobe malfunction. It's always good to have a back up plan when you are planning for an event.

I just had to throw in the sparkly heels for some holiday fun but the heels came off shortly after because I was not going to step on my little guests' feet with my four inch heels. We all know how little kids like to run around.

Jacket: Banana Republic: old
White denim: Express
Clutch: Target
Shoes: VS previously worn here
Blouse: T.J. Maxx: old
Necklace: Walmart

Yeah, I matched outfits with one of my friends that was around to celebrate with me; fun right? She was looking so radiant and beautiful. She had a baby in the first week of January this year; just days after I did so the next party is at her end...hehehe...:-). I'll show you my outfit for the party later. Yeah, I picked it out already.

Birthday Boy

So, that's it guys. I usually like to use balloons whenever I decorate for a kid's party because they can always play with the balloons later with adult supervision of course. Also, I hung some snowflakes decor from the ceiling and hung a scene setter feature wall with balloons attached to it. Of course the Christmas tree was decorated in a corner in another part of the living room and all the gifts have already been opened as I'm writing this post; a lot of goodies...:-). The food was also delicious and I'm so happy that most of my friends took time off from other activities on such a busy holiday to celebrate with me and my family. It was a fun Christmas now; we look forward to the new year.
