Sequins and Sparkles in the new year

      Happy new year! I hope this new year finds you in great style with lots of sparkle and joy.  Here is to more sparkles and shine in 2024. If you must know, the sequin and metallics trend is still going to be huge this year. We are not leaving these rich fabrics and accessories in the closet this year; rather we are dressing up every day with gratitude in our hearts for each new day. Happy viewing, happy styling.

December Shopping Guide

                                  One / Two / Three / Four / Five / Six / Seven

       It's the last month of the year and this means gift giving season. As always, there is always something I want every season and these pretty little things would be appreciated by any lady on your Christmas shopping list. If you do not want the same exact things on the list, just think of it as a shopping guide; think earrings or jewelry for daughters, nieces, girlfriends or Mom or a pair of trendy heels for yourself. Happy viewing, happy shopping.

How I scored my best sequin top at Arc's Value Village Thrift Store

I scored the above floral sequin blouse recently from Arc's Value Village and it really got me excited because I had been on the hunt for a floral or printed sequin piece for years. I only wish I had gotten this sooner, right before the holidays but that's okay because I'm still in a new year celebratory mood and I'm planning on wearing my sequin pieces this month to Church and other events before I finally give them a break at the end of the month until next holiday season. I have a couple of sequin dresses and skirts in my closet that I have been restyling for years like this dress here and here  and here and this skirt here and this recently purchased blue sequin skirt that I plain to wear to Church next Sunday and I knew it was time to get something new. The opportunity came when  I was contacted by a PR from Arc's Value Village  recently to do a collaboration on the blog.

 Arc's Value Village is a thrift store and donation center which has four big locations in my city. I do go there to shop for unique pieces from time to time and I have mentioned the store a couple of times previously on this blog as you can see from this post here and here and here. My invitation to do a collaboration with the store is part of its ongoing social media campaign to bring more awareness to the store and the great cause the organization is involved in in helping people with developmental disabilities. I scored this beautiful floral sequin blouse and a couple of sunglasses with the coupon that I was provided with to shop in the store and as always, shopping at Arc's clean, organized and well laid out store, was a fun experience. There is new merchandise that comes into the store every week from businesses, stores and personal donations and the items are always in great condition. If you enjoy thrifting just for fun or to score great bargains, you can check out Arc's online store on ebay. Enjoy the weekend.

Bring in the Bling: J. Crew Mini-haul

Tank top: here
Bow flats: here
Necklace:  J. Crew: sold out

I recently got bit by the sequin bug and I have the christmas and new year holidays to thank for it. We all know that sequins and all things sparkly trend most during the winter holidays but yours truly here decided to extend the bling way into the new year. These sparkly pieces here are some of my recent haul from the J. Crew holiday sale.

I just love the sequin tank top and can't wait to layer it underneath a jacket in the spring and maybe eeemmm..**clears throat,**the summer too? The pretty flats with sequin bows are also going to get very heavy rotation. I'm not so much a fan of flats but I just could not resist this pair. The cobalt blue and crystal necklace which were on sale for about $11.99 rounds up the bling/sequin collection.

                            I hope everyone is doing great and enjoying the new week?

What to wear to the holiday Party/Dinner Event

Hello beautiful ladies, thanks for stopping by my blog. I have an event to attend on sunday night which is going to be my first party for the holiday season and I spent a little bit of time today trying to figure out what to wear to this event. It's my friend's wedding anniversary this weekend and she is hosting a dinner for her friends to celebrate the occasion. I was not able to enjoy holiday parties last year the way I would have loved to because I was pregnant in my last trimester and had my baby on Christmas day. This year,  I plan to enjoy myself 100% in every event I attend and I will start first by enjoying my outfits...:-). I'm also planning a party on Christmas day to celebrate my son's birthday.

Now back to the topic at hand, I had a realization that holiday party looks can be placed in two categories; glitz and glamorous and simple and chic. The glitz and glamorous look are those looks that really celebrate the spirit and fun of the holiday season and event to the fullest while the simple and chic is just laid back but still fun. With this idea in mind, I went on Polyvore and created looks to suit each occasion. I created skirts, dresses and pants outfits with coordinating winter coats for style and warmth. Now, I wish I could just call forth all these items into my closet; maybe I should pray more in order to perform that feat...:-). So, which of these sets do you prefer?

     There you have it my friends...:-). Do you think the simple and chic outfits can be just as fun as the glitz and glamorous ones? In my opinion, we do not really need to wear sequins and shiny outfits this season although it can be fun to do so too. I mean, this is the time of the year that ladies really indulge in sequins especially at New-year parties however, any outfit that is clean, fun and chic would do just fine too. It can be simple and fabulous at the same time. No need for complicated stuff that needs elaborate decoding or assembly. This reminds me of a quote I saw on a church sign when I was driving to work a few days ago and it goes;

                                       Church: Assembly required (you get the play on words right?...:-)).
