Gingham Short-Shorts

Happy new month friends; welcome to the month of September. So, short, shorts have been trending for a while now and I really did not care for it and to tell you the truth, I thought it was a little juvenile to wear short shorts and being in my thirties, I did not think I had any business wearing short shorts until I went to Loft in the middle of the summer and saw this gingham print shorts. I fell in love with it right away but felt very sad when I found out that they were short shorts. I searched through the racks just hoping there would be one with a longer hem but there was no luck so I just left disappointed but I never kept thinking of the shorts.

Usually, when I see an item of clothing that I like but cannot buy right away, my prayer is usually that the item should go on sale but this time my prayer was that the shorts should go longer or that a "Bermuda-version" type should be released by the manufacturer because I love Bermuda shorts. Well,  the shorts did go on sale but the hem remained the same. I went in to the dentist a couple of weeks ago with the kiddos for their bi-annual cleaning and check-up and it just happens that there is a Loft store right across the street from our dentist. Well, I did go into the store after the appointment and here we are..:-).

Shorts: Loft
Tank top: Walmart
Jacket: Banana Republic
Sandals: Kelsi by Kelsi Dagger via DSW
Necklace: Express

I did find out that adding a blazer over this short shorts and dressing it up kind of elevates the look and gives it a more matured look rather than juvenile. I also decided to put on minimal jewelry just to tone down the look. This outfit would go on so many dinner dates with the hubby, I tell you and my hubby approved of it right away when he saw the look.
Would you dress up short, shorts like this even if they are denim short shorts?

The Prints in the bucket

I put on neutrals today and accessorized with two different kinds of animal prints. I got the bold leopard prints on my scarf and snake prints on my bucket bag. I got this bag in two colors; a black one and this cream snake prints design. I have always liked cross body bags and bucket bags because they are very convenient when you are on the go especially when you are attending to little kids. This bag will certainly be in great rotation this spring and summer.

My heart goes out to the victims of the earthquake disaster in Nepal and to all the victims of the crisis in Baltimore. A lot of unrest in the world right now.

Scarf: Charlotte Reusse
Tee: Loft
Blazer: Banana Republic
Pants: Target
Pumps: VS shoes
Bag: Ann Taylor

I'm glad there is not much rules to fashion these days so my leopard prints and snake prints can be "friends" in one outfit...lol. I hope everyone is doing great. Please, let's pray for the USA, Nepal and the world in general.

All White and Plaid

Pant Suit: Banana Republic
Plaid shirt: Next (gifted)
Shoes: Steve Madden

This is the outfit I wore to Church last Sunday. It was actually a no brainer; a white pant suit with a plaid shirt and red pointed toe shoes. The temperature was so low and it was so chilly that I knew I had to wear a pant suit. Usually, I love to wear skirts and dresses to Church on Sundays but as my style has been evolving, I have started to expand my wardrobe choices. White is a color I have always been comfortable with but I thought an all-white outfit might be a little too much hence the addition of the plaid shirt. The contrast really made me happy.

I had a lot of fun this last weekend. My younger brother who I have not seen for a while paid me a surprise visit. His wife and kids were around during the Christmas break and were actually present when I had my baby but my brother could not make it due to his hectic work schedule. So, it was really nice when he showed up unannounced. Some family friends came around to visit too and it was a very busy but fun weekend. The Church service was very powerful too and I was blessed. We had a nice dinner afterwards and it was really a beautiful Sunday.

I hope you all had a fun weekend too. Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful week.
