Closest thing to Peplum 2

Hi beauties, how is your day or week going? I bet we are all ready to enjoy the weekend. My week has been a little  hectic with lot of school essays to turn in. I decided to take a break and put in some blogging time. This is the continuation of my last post. Enjoy the pictures.

The last time I wore this camisole was over three months ago in this post. And since then, its been  hiding in a corner of the closet and when I found it again, viola!!

This Ash color jacket from White House/Black Market is one of my favorites previously worn here

Have a great weekend everyone.

Closest thing to Peplum 1

So, it's been raining a bit in the twin cities since yesterday and it did not stop me from taking some pictures. Actually, I love to take pictures in the rain or should I just say I love to play in the rain; the little kid in me!...:) Check out this post from earlier in the year when I played in the rain.

So, the peplum top has been trending for some time now and I never really wanted to join in the bandwagon because I promised myself not to spend any dollar buying any new clothing item with an exception to shoes of course!..) My closet is bursting with clothes most of which I have not worn more than a couple of times. Therefore I decided to shop from my own closet for at least a year and if there are pieces I can not wear at the end of the year, then I can give them away.

Anyway, I was looking through my closet and trying to do a little bit of organizing in order to put my winter clothes within easy reach and I came across this top I purchased at Tj Maxx a while back. I only wore it about two times before I discarded it and now that I took another look, it kind of fits the description of peplum.

The dress has a wide elastic band at the waist which gives it the peplum effect and I paired it with a black skirt, a green nugget necklace, a Kenneth Cole Reaction Clutch and I was good to go!

I purchased this top over three years ago when the peplum trend had not even come to the runway and it still holds its place years later. I will like to say that I had a love-hate relationship with the top then. The reason I bought it was because it matched the new pair of Nine West heels I bought and though I do not think being matchy-matchy is a way to go but I loved the two pieces together mixed in with black and teal. Here are some pictures of the two culprits together.

So, before you run off to go buy that latest trendy outfit, take a deep breath and take a closer look in your closet and try to see how you can make pieces work together. And if you must buy a new item, do not break the bank. Buy a cheaper version or score some deals at a discount store and try out the look first to see if it looks good on you. You can then splurge on the item if everything looks good.

The weather was dull and gloomy and it seems my old camera had problem with the flash as usual but I enjoyed taking the pictures. Now I know what I want for Christmas **whispering** A good Camera!

Take care everyone and do not forget that a great pair of shoes pumps up any outfit. If you love high heels like I do, the higher the better...) and if you love mid-heels or flats, then go for dramatic details and prints.

Leopard, brown, bronze and shutter happy!

This is a very long post full of pictures that are edited and unedited and clear and fuzzy at the same time. I was dressed up in a big leopard print blouse which I bought a long time ago more for the fabric pattern than the style of the blouse. I just love leopard prints and can not get enough of it! I wore this blouse a lot when I was pregnant because it is big and flowy and can hide a few curves. I have paired it with tan pants, brown color pants and even denim. I decided to dress it with brown Capri pants and some bronze color heels in this shoot.

The leopard print blouse which is 100% silk and very comfy is from Newport News and my Capri pants are from Tj Maxx.

Sunnies are from Target stores and bracelet and brown clutch were shopped from my closet (very old)

Necklace is from Dress Barn

Bronze heels are Colin Stuart from Victoriassecret..

The weather was very windy, cool and beautiful and I was just enjoying the outdoors and taking in all the beautiful colors of the Fall season which I just can't get enough off. My Fall wardrobe in the past consisted of brown and black colors and gradually went down to all black until the Winter season was over. However, this time, I have made up my mind to incorporate colors into my wardrobe the whole year through! The fact that it is very cold during the Fall and Winter Season does not mean that my wardrobe should be bland and boring.

The weather or circumstances around us should not determine our happiness or frame of mind. We should always have the mind of a Victor at all times in order to dominate every situation in our life. And in situations when it seems like things are not working the way we want them to, we should still not lose our composture. Hold unto your faith and positive confession and you will be able to overcome all situation around you and emerge a victorious person that God has made you through Christ Jesus.

Just come as you are to God; happy or unhappy, rich or poor, bound or free and he'll take care of you. That is the reason I decided to post all my pictures from this shoot just the way they are; clear or unclear, edited and unedited. I have my hair flying in some of the pictures but it is still okay. Nothing matters in life without God. We cannot achieve perfection on our own except we give our lves to God for him to take total control of it. It is Sunday y'all. Please go to Church!

Warm Tones

Hi All, It is a little too surprising that the weather is somewhat warm at this time of the year especially for the State of Minnesota. It is the month of October and we are supposed to be in the  Fall season but even the the Winter Season is not as bad as it used to be and people are blaming Global Warming or Environmental Pollution for this. I am up for saving our environment and I am also up for a mild and normal weather condition. It's a No! No! to all those harsh and terrible Winters. Anyway, I am yet to take my coats and jackets for dry cleaning and I do not even know where my gloves and hats are; I will have to raid my closet this weekend and reorganize it top to bottom. Meanwhile, I am still enjoying my summer outfits.
This is a warm toned outfit for the warm warm weather.

Wearing a dark brown sheath dress with nude accessories; a very simple look.

Still working on my hair. I need a big make-over!...:) It's hard to get it in top shape all the time amidst the thousand and one things to do. Fashion is good but not everything you know. A lot of other things come first before Fashion in my life but I try to enjoy every good thing I get in life. And I believe all things work together for my good in Christ. Romans. 8: 28

I have decided that it is not really necessary to give credits to the Stores I buy my clothes and accessories from. I do not represent them in any way and I do not see any use in giving them the credit on my blog. After all, I paid for my stuff!...:) I am not a paid blogger and I do not intend to use my blog to solicit for monetary gain. It's just a personal diary which I hope my kids and grandkids and grandkids will enjoy reading someday...:) However, I will do a post on "just shopping" to let interested readers who care to know to find out where I shop. And if you have read other posts, you will know that most of my outfits are from Tj Maxx, Coldwater Creek, White House/Black Market, Talbots, Metrostyle, Chadwicks, Newport News, Dress Barn, Banana Republic, Target or Burlington. And most of my shoes are from Victoriassecret online, Zappos, DSW and Net A Porter. I shop from very affordable departmental stores and do not believe I have to wear clothes worth a million bucks to look good. If I get a million bucks, I will create my own fashion brand/company and create employment for people amidst other things...:) What will you do with a Million bucks?

That being said, do you see all the beautiful colors in the trees behind in the background? God is surely wonderful. He loves color and definitely loves beautiful things; "He is cool!"

The classy blogger kiss; a little cheesy on me I think...:)

Well, just for the sake of it, here are the credits...:) Merona Dress: Target
                                                                                  Purse: Guess
                                                                                  Shoes: Steve Madden
                                                                                  Jewelry: Palm beach
                                                                                  Belt: Thrifted
                                                                                  Sunnies: Target

Have a nice weekend everyone. God loves you dearly...**Kisses**

Simple as Usual...

Hi beautiful people of Blogs Ville, I hope everyone is having a great week so far. I just wanted to sign in to say hi to everyone. I had a very beautiful weekend; spent some time with family and friends. And of course, I went to Church and this is what I wore;
As usual, I had laid out different clothes the night before because I do not like to be disorganized on a Sunday morning but when we woke up to a warmer weather, I decided to go with something simple for the warmer weather. I bought this dress at Tj Maxx a long time ago and it is so versatile and I love it. I have used it as a maternity dress because of its flowy A-line shape and cool fabric and the style is still trendy enough for post maternity.

It's a simple, short, fun dress so I just accessorized with very simple jewelry as usual. A chunky  necklace and a single wooden bracelet and ring were the only jewelry and I topped the look off with brown Colin Stuart pumps and a teal color handbag for a pop of color.

The dress did not require any ironing because of the quality Georgette fabric it was made out off and it saved me some time dressing up. I would recommend that every lady have a couple of outfits in her closet which are ready wear, wrinkle free items. It saves a lot of time dressing up at the last minute and they are also nice to pack for a quick getaway.

So, that is my outfit in a nutshell and I want to say that the brown tank top is not part of the dress. The plunging V-neck line of the dress is too sexy for any occasion and I had to purchase a separate tank top to wear underneath. I like to be modest...:)

Take care everyone and enjoy the rest of the week. Do not forget to always count all those special blessings that have been bestowed upon you. **Kisses**

Black + Yellow and LIEBSTER AWARD- PART TWO

Hi Beauties, it's another day of glory. The weather has really changed a bit and the cold is starting to get here in full force. It's being a little chilly and windy today. I just wanted to sleep in and enjoy a hot cup of cocoa and some toast but had to drag myself up to face the tasks of the day. This is what I wore today minus the shoes which I just put on solely for this shoot. Some comfortable black flats took its place for the much needed errand run. It was a little chilly so I threw a scarf around my neck; not cold enough for a jacket yet I think. And also, if it gets warmer later in the day, I can use the scarf as a head-tie while still infusing some color into my black colored outfit. Here are the two looks below;

Peek a boo...lol

I am going to complete the LIEBSTER AWARD POST today with this post and you can check out the PART ONE HERE.  Before I answer the questions, I will tell you about my outfit. All jewelry in this post except my earrings which are from Target and my rings from Burlington, are all thrifted and yes! I do believe in the three R'S; REDUCE, REUSE, and RECYCLE.

Stretch blouse, scarf and black pants are from Tj Maxx and my black Kenneth Cole Reaction tote is also from Tj Maxx. You have to own a lot of totes and over sized bags if you are a Mum in order to be able to take all those knick knacks kids need; diapers, wipes, snacks, hand sanitizers...name it.

Before I begin, I will like to thank Neilly of Aux Caprices de Flore for nominating me and I am going to say a little bit about the award; It is handed/passed onto beginning bloggers who have less than 200 members (Followers) on their site and the receiver is supposed to do a post to reveal some information to her readers to enable them know the blogger better...

The Award's rules are:

1. When you receive the award, thank the person who gave it to you and post the link
of her/his blog inn your post.

2. Then you (receiver of the award), post eleven things about yourself.

3. Answer the eleven question that the tagger has set for you.

4. Choose eleven inspiring bloggers with less than 200 followers and link their pages in your post. Then create eleven question for them to answer.

5. Go to their pages and tell them.

6. No tag back!

Now let's get to the questions.

1) Green or not? (Save the planet!)
Green of course!Green it is!! I believe in saving the planet and saving the souls in it.

2) What genre of music do you like?
I love Gospel Music any time, any day. It helps me to meditate which normally leads to worship

3) What is your favorite meal?
I do not really have a favorite meal but I would say that I am finding it hard to decide between spicy wings and potato wedges/fries, fried plantain and eggs (African dish) and Chinese fried rice with beef stir fry and honey chicken..hmmmm; a lot of  fried foods I must say. "Not healthy though."

** My scowling face** Now, what is the next question?..lol

4) Have you ever traveled in a foreign country? If yes, where?
I have not travelled to a foreign country yet but I am planning to do so soon. I am originally from Nigeria in West Africa and have made a lot of stop overs at the Amsterdam Airport en route to Africa. My plan is to visit the UK soon. I have friends  and family there who are constantly sending invitations my way.

5) Where do you live?
I live in the State of Minnesota; the mid-western part of the United States.

6) Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Five years from now, I want to continue doing all the beautiful things I do right now; blogging, making friends, reaching out to people with the Gospel, raising my beautiful family, spending time with my hubby and just enjoying life generally..

7) Tell one dream or something you will like to realize in 6 months.
My intention has always been to learn how to sew very well with a sewing machine and I have been trying to do this for years but have not been able to fit it into my hectic schedule of work, family and school. So, hopefully, I will be able to get those much needed sewing lessons soon so that I can start creating all those amazing designs in my head. My dream is to be my own designer; to design clothing/brand for myself and my girls.

8) What is the extreme/eccentric thing you have ever done?
I had dreadlocks in my hair for about four years and I felt very different and unique. I never thought I would be able to pull it off at the beginning.

9) What is the most important thing in your life?
God; My Faith.

10) What is your biggest accomplishment? Or name something that you are proud of?
I am proud of my family and I thank God for his goodness. I have the most wonderful and loving husband and three beautiful Kids.

11) What inspires you in life?
My Faith
