Birthday Suit..

This is one of the quick posts I saved prior to my daughter's birthday and it is about choosing my outfit for the day. I already had my kids clothes sorted out and knew what everyone was going to be wearing. However, I had to ponder a little on my own outfit. I had the dress picked out already though but could not decide on the shoes and even though the birthday party is over and done with (We had a nice time..lol) I'll like you lovely readers to play a guessing game with me...lol.

Before we begin our game, I will like to tell you about previous party outfits...

This outfit is what I wore for my son's one year birthday party five years ago. The pink top was made with a pretty African lace fabric with stones studded all over it. (You can't really see the stone studs in the pic.) It is a long "Kaftan" top with slits on the sides and the white pants were made from a simple brocade fabric. (Made by my seamstress) I also had a tough choice five years ago picking out the best shoes to match this oufit and I will publish some pics. sometime later in this blog of what shoes finnally won the day.
The description of the shoes are as follows;

  1. The first pair of shoes are open toe pink suede shoes with a loop and neutral color heels which I purchased from the VictoriasSecret Catalogue over ten years ago. They are pretty old shoes but I don't get to wear them all the time because of the color.
    2. The second pair of shoes are pink multi color slingbacks I got as a gift from Africa. They are  simple and comfortable and looked right for the occassion.

     3. The third pair of shoes were purchased from DSW and were the initial pair I picked for my wedding until I found a great pair of comfortable wedges! (I'll do a post on my wedding tips later on in the summer..:))

My long pink Kaftan made the day..

My white brocade pant made the day also...What shoe goes best with this outfit?...lol

This navy blue shiny dress with fringes is what I wore for my first daughter's one year birthday. You must have seen it a lot in my previous posts. The glittery fabric appealed to me when I first saw the dress at TJ Maxx. And traa laa!!...lol. I purchased the dress.

  1. The first pair of silver open toed heels by Jessica Simpson were purchased at DSW and they are really comfortable.  I like the die-cut pattern on the shoes.

2 The second pair of wine satin pumps by Colin Stuart/VictoriasSecret catalogue were also        a contender. I had matching jewelry for it so, it didn't really look all that mismatched when I  picked them as contender..lol

3.The last shoes are silver Nine West slingbacks and are one of my favorites! So, can you guess what pair of shoes won the game?.. I mean what pair of shoes did I pair with this dress?

And this is the birthday suit! This shimmery gold one shoulder dress was purchased at TJ Maxx and though I liked the outfit a lot, I do not understand why it was lined in pink!..of all colors!!...lol. I would have considered linning the dress in gold color fabric or neutral fabric if I had made it myself.

  1. The first pair of gold color sandals were not such a great match for my dress but I put them into consideration anyway. I got them as gift from my hubby when he made a trip to Africa so, they were really special to me.
      2. The second pair of five inches glittery Steve Madden shoes are one of my favorites too and was  a strong contender but I wanted to be really comfortable during the party without any care about hurting feet. (wearing of heels come with a pain)

3. The third pair of neutral suede shoes with satin knot-tie were purchased from VictoriasSecret Catalogue (they make such amazing, comfortable and affordable shoes)

So, let the guessing game begin....

White tie frills..

I am feeling pretty excited and happy. I got a lot of stuff done over the past weekend and there is a huge reduction in my laundry list...:) Yeah, literally, I finally got my laundry room repainted too; just in time for my baby's one year birthday party. I will post pictures of the Laundry room makeover in a future post. I am still trying to ponder if I want to post pictures of me in my overalls.

I call this outfit; "My happy outfit." Could it  be because it's white?  White symbolises purity, happiness, elegance and perfection and must be the reason I'm really so excited. Or maybe it just reminds me of my wedding day...-) You can see some of my wedding pics from an earlier post here. I do not wear white to work often but was excited to put this oufit together..

Black platform heels from Qupid..They make such affordable and comfortable high heeled pumps

Sun glasses from Target Stores...cheap but serving its function. 100% UV protection...lol

Ruffled white camisole, wrap around skirt: Loft. Ash color blazer from White House/Black Market

Jessica Simpson bag; jewelry from Palm Beach

It was such a sunny day...

Hope everyone had a nice day at work cos I certainly did. Life is full of challenges which we can only overcome by our attitude. An unshaken mind overcomes all fears. A life of faith in God is a life of victory...Cheers!

I wonder when I will be able to put up the pictures again...**sigh.** I'm busy right now trying to plan a birthday party for my little one on Mothers' day weekend. I am planning on giving all mothers/friends that will be at the party a special treat. I am still trying to get comfortable with this blogging thing...lol. I took a course in school last session where I had to blog for the whole semester; beautyojosnotesonadolescentlit.blogspot.com And you would have thought I will be a pro. by now...**smiles.**
I'll have to put up my pics again as soon as I can...(after the party though) "Have a happy Mother's day ladies."

Finally got to put up my pictures again and I just threw them right back on the same spot they used to be..lol

I'm wearing this pink sleevess sheath dress that is from the abandoned part of my closet..lol. Really old! I never thought it was still going to fit but was so glad it did!..-) The grey blazer kind of complements the dress in a nice subtle way...

This necklace was worn in an earlier post as a choker

Multicolor Bag and violet color cut-out platform heels from Jessica Simpson..

I had fun with this outfit and I also had a wonderful day!...:) 'Hope everyone did too.

Supple Purple

It was sunday and I got ready to go to church with my family as usual. I thought of the purple color vintage dress I bought a couple of weeks earlier and knew it had to be the perfect one for the day. I bought the dress because of its color and I have always wanted to own some vintage pieces. (I got two of them now.) It was made of this beautiful, rich supple fabric with ruffles on the bodice. It would have been a simple dowdy dress but it came alife after I added some accessories..
I have on my brown suede pumps I purchased from VictoriasSecret Catalogue about twelve years ago so, they are really old and go well with my vintage look. My multicolor bag is from Jessica Simpson.

The dazzling gold belt is one of my favorite accessories I purchased from a thrift store and I have on a pair of gold studs I got as a gift. My hubby did not really like this look. He said it was too old fashioned. But that's Vintage for you! You either love it or hate it!...lol

The multicolor Neck strands can be worn in two lenghts; either as one long necklace or as a choker and I thought the choker was more suitable for this dress...

You see, the dress is really dowdy without the gold belt; don't you think?

I believe the accessories made this outfit..

I enjoyed my little photo shoot before stepping out but I am starting to get uncomfortable with my front porch. The flowers are all dried up and the porch really need some sprucing up..I'll have to handle some DIY yard projects pretty soon..

Grey but gay!

Yeah, this is one of my Mummy outfits..I have quite a few of them...lol. And it's in the color grey, I know!..:) It is an off shoulder dress I bought online from Metro Style. I got it because of the price and sheer fabric. It was on clearance for $11 and I decided to order it even though I did not really care much for it. I think it kind of looks very matronly and it does really accentuate the "Mama-Look." But, yeah, I'm a mama right?...lol

This dress spent over a year in my closet before I finally decided to give it a try. I was wearing it to church and did not want to make it off shoulder. Church is God's house and we've got to be modest and appropriate..lol. If we can not dress inappropriately to see the president, we can not dress inappropriately to God's house...:) This does not mean however that Christians can not have fun with their clothing styles but "Modesty" is the word..

I paired it off with grey ZigiSoho heels from DSW and a greyish silver clutch I purchased from VictoriasSecret catalogue years ago.

Earrings are from Palmbeach jewelry.. Have a wonderful week ahead and thanks for stopping by my blog.

Green with...edgy

Yes, it's been raining for days in Mineapolis and it just won't stop but of course it's spring. I had a church meeting to attend this saturday morning and when I thought of the rainy weather, I thought it would be best to go with green color oufit. (You do know why, right? Rain brings life and green is a symbol of life and birth and spring) I tried to wait for the rain to cease so, I could take my pictures and when it did not stop and I was running late for my meeting, I decided to do a photo-shoot in the rain...:)

Outfit from Loft Stores..

Black heeled shoes are from Colin Stuart/VictoriasSecret Catalogue and black oversized bag is from Guess.
It was not just the rain, it was windy too..
jewelry is thrifted...

I just love the fabrics of this outfit. The light green eyelet blazer is pretty cool and the green linen dress is just awesome.

Like I always say, I like to show the semi-corporate look of my outfits. So, I had a little extra time on my hands before going for my meeting and I dashed into the house for a quick change into my semi  corporate look of the above outfit..This look is for less formal events...as we all know.

The rain stopped for a little bit...
And then, it came pouring down again! What a tease!!
Did I mention that green is one of my favorite colors?..lol

I've had this blouse for a while so, I'll say it's random cos I do not remember the store I got it from but the skirt is custom made by my seamstress..
Shoes are from DSW..and bag is random..

I enjoyed taking these pics in the rain after all. It was very exhilarating and felt really good.

I will always love the color green in all its different shades; dark green, light green, citrus, teal..and you are going to be seeing a lot of posts in this color..lol (Maybe this is my new black?) Do you have a favorite color you are drawn to when you shop at the store or so many outfits in different shades of the same color?
