Purple Floral dress

Hi readers and fellow bloggers. I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. I had a wonderful day today and I will like to share with you one of my amazing experience this weekend. I am not an avid TV watcher because of all the negative shows and news that is out there and because of my extreme busy schedule.. However, I do watch some of those makeover shows now and then when they come up . So, this morning, the TV was on Style Network Channel and there was a show called "Guiliana and Bill" that came on. I was getting ready for church service and was busy putting my outfit together when I heard the couple (Guiliana and Bill) on TV talking about going to church to pray.  I looked up and actually saw the couple hand in hand walking into a big church and I felt that was pretty awesome.

In this day and time when a lot of people are embarrassed to talk about their faith in public, I thought the action of the couple was pretty remarkable. Also, I know Guiliana is a TV host on the E! Channel too and she has a lot of fans. So sending that kind of message to her viewers and her fans on a Sunday morning was a huge blessing. Lesson learned; "Stand up for your faith." That being said, I'll share with you the outfit I wore to church today...:)

June Flowers

It is June the first and I believe Summer is already here...I just love summer! It is the time the kids get the much needed break from school, the period for weddings and various fun events, family gatherings, barbeques and dinners and it's also the ideal time for all DIYs and all those home improvements that have been on the to-do list forever...lol

Another reason I love Summer is because of the natural beauty you see all around; the blooming of flowers and all those beautiful landscaping and yardwork. I just love flowers! I believe they are some of God's numerous gifts to mankind that deserve more attention than they actually get from humans...:)

Anyway, I finally made a trip to Linders here a couple of weeks back when I got tired of looking at the dried flower pots on the porch. I spent about $150 and came home with three flower pots and about fifteen tomatoes young plants which I transplanted into my vegetable garden at the backyard. I will share with you photos of how my front porch looks now and how it looked a couple of months back.

This is how my front porch looks like now and these flowers are actually my inspiration for this month of June. I am going to put together some outfits based on my inspiration from flowers.

This is how my porch looked like a few months back just coming out of spring. For a break down of how I put this vintage look together, check out this post

This is how my porch looked like last summer. I really did not do anything different with the flowers this time aside from making them more colorful and bigger. I am in one of my casual looks and you can see more pics from a previous post I did in March titled: "A Sneak Peek of my style." (Check out my blog Archive)

Holding my little angel in my arms as we enjoyed the sun. It was the fourth of July last year and I tried to put some colors of the holiday into my outfit; blue and red. My deep red top is from Macys, denim pant from Fashion Bug and silver color sandals from Designer Shoe Warehouse (DSW)

Watch out for my next styling post for the month of June which is going to be titled "Flowers and Flare."

A dash of color..

Hi readers,  I hope everyone is having fun this week. If you have been following my color story which was the motivation for starting up this blog, (see here) you will know that I have been trying to make tremendous changes to my wardrobe. One of the ways I tried to do this besides buying new colorful clothes was by use of accessories. This is an outfit that was changed from "boring" to "bold" just by the use of colorful accessories hence the name "A dash of color."

Print Wrap Dress..

Hi Beautiful readers!!...:) It's Sunday the 27th and it is Memorial day weekend..I love Sundays for a number of reasons. First of all, I am able to dress up with my family and we all go to church together where we commune together as a family and get charged up for the new week. After the church service, we go out and do some fun things like visiting friends, eating out or going to the park. It is usually a fun family day.

The second reason I love Sunday is because it signals a new beginning; a new week and a fresh start for everyone. The old week has rolled by with all its "haves" and "have-nots" and the expectation is to have the best in the new week. That being said, I wish you all a happy week ahead as I share with you the outfit I wore to church today. The pictures are not that great but hey; "It is one of my Mama outfits."...lol

I am sitting in one of my favorites spot at the back yard. It's the the spot where I like to go sometimes to get some sun, read a book or watch the children play in the play-area. My sort of "Meditation Corner."

Wearing a wine color print faux wrap dress from Chadwicks (an on-line store) and wine Colin Stuart pumps from VictoriasSecret catalogue. I purchased both items a long time ago..:)

My deep brown color handbag is a gift from a family member and my brown wooden bracelet and ring are random buys.

My gold tone choker necklace is from the thrift store. (There are awesome vintage jewelry at thrift stores, flea markets and consignment stores and you can get them at great prices.)

The faux wrap dress has a tiny belt that goes across the waist which is not really obvious from these pics.

Wrap dresses whether they are faux or not can be worn by any body type because they are really forgiving. By the way, I had a wonderful time in church today. I am dying to tell you what I learned but might just save it for the next post. I feel I have said enough..:) Again, wishing you all a wonderful week. "Kisses!!!"

Mellow Yellow

I think I must have been bitten by the "blogging bug" cos, I just won't stop!...:) I took these pictures last week with the intention of using them in a posting then, I changed my mind when I saw that they were not looking that great. I had a hectic day at work and the temperature was unbearably hot and humid. It certainly was no day for a photo shoot. Anyway, I have changed my mind about the pictures and here they are!...lollls

                        Peeeeek a boooooooo!...:)

       Yellow blazer: Thrifted

Gold slingback heels: Steve Madden. Bag: Random

Taupe Color-Block...

As we all know, color blocking is a trend that has been going on for a while now and it's just beautiful to see all those color combinations in clothes and shoes. This is my own version of color blocking which I did in my favorite style of dressing; "Corporate or Formal Attire." As you all might have also known by now, I love blazers, skirts and dresses and it was fun putting this outfit together. I call this posting "Taupe Color-Block."

Also, I got very beautiful gifts from one of my colleagues at work today and I was amazed. It is not my birthday and it felt really special getting such wonderful presents on an otherwise normal day. My friend Felma, gave me four boxes of fashion jewelry from Avon which I'm planning to use in a future posting very soon. I hope everyone is having a wonderful day. We've been having this very hot and humid temperature in Minnesota lately but we are not complaining. We enjoy our weather anyhow it comes...:)

Wishing everyone a happy memorial day weekend ahead!

The taupe oversized blazer was thrifted, teal dress has been in my closet for a while now, bag was gifted and jewelry (necklace and ring) are from Burlington Coat Factory. Steve Madden shoes are from DSW.

I like how some of the colors in the outfit are reflected in the necklace.

Colors: Taupe blazer and shoes, light orange color bag, orange ring and teal dress.

Oldies...

I hope everyone had a nice weekend because the weekend is over already and it's back to work!..lol. I spent so many hours organizing myself in the last couple of days; read my mail, arranged my closet, did some gardening and even had time to do a lot of blogging...:) The greatest achievement however, was having time for my spiritual upliftment and spending time with my family. Summer is so much fun...:) School is a lot of fun but the summer break is a lot more fun.

While going through my closet, I found an outfit I had not worn in a long time and I decided to bring it back to life...:) It is one of the few colored outfits I owned at the time I had my "dark closet" and it is in one of my favorite colors purple. I remember how excited I was when I bought this dress from Dressbarn and the black jacket has always been a staple piece in my closet..I wore this oufit to Church today and along with the sermon, I felt pretty good at the end of the day. Isn't it nice to be able to fit into the same dress four years later?..

Purple dress from Dressbarn, Zigisoho platform pumps from DSW and black blazer from Fashion Bug. Jewelry is thrifted.

It was a windy day although not too obvious but the twirling dress is big time evidence..

Today is May 20th 2012 and I wore this same outfit at about the same time three years ago and I remember I purchased it about a year before this photo below was taken. My baby girl is a big girl now...:) I'm going to keep this same dress and try it on again in five years and see how it looks!...lol!!!
